One of the things I loved about the Vet Clinic where I worked, was that they really took the time to show their grief at the loss of an animal. Even though the sentiment wasn't appreciated as much as I hope, I'm sure that those who DID appreciate it, appreciated it with all their hearts.
When an animal had to be euthanized, or when they brought it in to be creamated, if it'd died at home (the way we always prefered, and the owners, too), we'd take pawprints of the pet, and send them home in a card for the owners. One of my jobs, as receptionist, was to send off the cards.
The saying that we wrote on the pawprints was touching, and I wrote it much to often, sadly. However, I know in my heart that it means a lot, to the people who will find them and appreciate them.

... Love, Olaf"

Please, Amy, feel free to share it, or tweak it and share it, if you want. I think it's a lovely thing to do, and it would make me happy to think that other people are doing it, at their clinics. :)
That seems kinda silly. I mean, if my pet wasn't named Olaf I'd be totally confused. There just has to be a better way. I'm going to sit and think on this.
COME ON, Jess! Sheesh. All with the suspence, and then no follow-through.
I hope to Pete you're better with the snowballs.
What did I do? I'm so confused....
Wait, where did my post go?! Did you delete it? I don't remember deleting it. I didn't delete it. Now I'm even more confused....
I didn't delete it!
B?
Hmmm.....you know, something might have happened when boss came barging in yesterday. I might have clicked something on accident because he scared the crap outta me (he was all frazzled). I posted the long version of my short story post on my blog....:)
